This wedding included three firsts for us! It was our first time photographing a wedding at the gorgeous Culpepper Barn in Virginia Beach. This barn is such a perfect location for rustic style weddings. It sits just on the corner of Indian River Road and Princess Anne Road tucked to the side. The barns are white painted with a green trim and have the most beautiful horse stable. There were so many gorgeous opportunities for photos. These two chose this Culpepper Barn for their wedding location because they love the outdoorsy parts of life. They love to hike and love the beach. The burlap, lace, galvanized metal and cowboy boots fit so well with Sarah’s rustic theme. It was also our first time meeting the Todd and Sarah, the bride and groom, and let me tell you, they were nothing short of a dream couple to photograph. They were so easy, sweet and made their day fun and relaxed for us and everyone. We truly felt like friends of theirs and they did their very best making sure we felt just that way!
These two met in Annapolis Maryland while Sarah was working at the Naval Academy in the admissions office. Todd, was then stationed at Fort Meade. Todd currently serves in our U.S. Navy as an officer. Thank you so much for your service and dedication, Todd! Sarah was a guidance counselor here in Virginia Beach, but as of now these two have moved to Florida to start their new life together. Todd proposed to Sarah last a little over a year ago in June on a hike climbing the top of Mount Mitchell. If you didn’t know, Mount Mitchell is the highest mountain East of the Mississippi River. As they climbed to the second highest peak the two ran into another couple at the top and asked them to take their photos. This is when Todd got down on one knee to propose. Todd and Sarah love to spend any time they can together. They spend a lot of time a part from each other because of the military, so they have learned that when they are together to maximize it to the fullest.
Their wedding day was so much fun. We met an awesome event coordinating team, Timeless Styled Events. This team was beyond excellent. Mary was always present and so good at what she does. It always makes our job so easy when we get strong and amazing coordinators. Super shout-out and kudos to her for sure! Todd and Sarah’s family and friends were so sweet and kind and we couldn’t have had better time with them. It was so great watching everyone let loose at the reception and just have fun. My favorite part of their wedding was watching how much Todd adored Sarah. Sarah wrote that some of her favorite things about Todd was how kind and respectful he is to everyone he meets. She loves that he is an honest and committed person and that he values doing the right thing, no matter the circumstances. I could see all of that about him. He is truly kind and amazing to know. Sarah was just sweet and fun and I loved that she knew exactly what she wanted on her day!
You two really were a dream to photograph. We were so honored to be a part of your day and your day will forever be etched in our hearts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to celebrate with you two. It was truly our honor and joy. Wishing you both such a beautiful life together.
