I’m so excited to share this rainy day Founder’s Inn wedding with you. Jake and I met Ray and Adrienne at a wedding show about a year ago. They came over and sat in our living room shortly after. We loved talking to both of them. Ray is a school guidance counselor; Adrienne works for the YMCA. I remember the day they were at our house. We all stood out front and admired Ray’s sweet car; we chatted about him being a runner.
Months later, I met these two in Downtown Norfolk for their engagement session. It was a hot summerly day. I remember because Adrienne had a double fan that sat around her neck. I thought, how smart! Every photographer would benefit from getting one of those, especially for hot summer days. Our session was so much fun. We laughed and had a wonderful time.
Ray and Adrienne have been a joy to know through their wedding planning process. Everything about them has just been easy. Jake and I were so excited to be able to photograph their wedding this past Friday. The day was rainy, but everything turned out beautiful. Adrienne was excited to have her dog, Essence, there. Essence got to be a part of the pre-ceremony bridal portraits. She even walked down the aisle. I thought that was so special. I loved being able to photograph that piece of Adrienne’s life.
I have to tell you all a secret. Early in the day, before Adrienne’s first look with Ray, Adrienne shared with me that neither her nor Ray were criers. She was right! Neither of them cried during their First Look. Later, however, just as Adrienne was coming down the aisle, I quickly turned around to get Ray’s expression. He had tears filling his eyes. My heart melted.
This rainy day Founder’s Inn wedding was such a blessing to photograph. Jake and I are always thankful that we get to celebrate with brides and grooms like Ray and Adrienne. The easy-going and relaxed ones. I also loved spending time with Adrienne’s girls. They were all sweet.
Even though this day was rainy, there was a brief moment we got to go outside in the gardens and take photos. I was grateful for that small window because we were able to get some pictures of the beautiful pond in the background.
Ray and Adrienne, thank you so much for allowing Jake and I the honor of photographing your wedding. It was a joy. We will be forever grateful and we hope you’ll enjoy these photos as much as we do. Praying so many blessings over you both.
With so much love,
Jake and Jennifer
