One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is when Jake and I get the honor of being invited back into another celebration for one of our bride’s family or friends. It is one of the greatest joys. I remember the day I realized Amelia was Nina’s sister. I didn’t put two and two together until she finally said, “I am Nina’s sister!” I got so excited and squealed with joy on the inside, especially knowing how warm and welcoming this family is. They are such an absolute joy and treat to work with.
There is nothing I love more than walking into a bridal suite and seeing familiar faces. I immediately felt welcomed and loved as son as I stepped foot into the little beach condo just down the street from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. There were so many helping hands everywhere. It was so perfect. Amelia and her friends were all getting ready in lovely blush robes and finalizing all the last minute touches to their hair and makeup. The was my first introduction to how gorgeous Amelia had planned her day to be. The morning flowed so peacefully. I loved the gorgeous patio for all their pre-ceremony getting ready photos and my absolute favorites were the ones between Nina and Amelia. They are such gorgeous sisters.
The ceremony part of the wedding took place at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia. The sun was nice and warm on this beautiful day in September. This was the last of our 4 wedding double header weekend streak and we could not be more blessed to spend it with this group of people. The beautiful gardens was a perfect backdrop for Amelia’s blush, ivory and fresh greenery inspired wedding.
Thomas and Amelia met in their college math class. They love going to the movies, relaxing at home, spending time with their families and traveling. Amelia loves Thomas’ generosity and sense of humor and he loves Amelia’s thoughtfulness. These two have such a gorgeous little guy named Benjamin Atlas. He is the cute boy in the middle of the aisle staring up as his mommy and daddy say I do together. It was the cutest thing watching him.
There is so much I love about Amelia. I love her soft strength. What I mean by that is that she is strong, but she isn’t pushy about it. She knows what she wants, but is gentle in her approach at making that known. I love her confident and calm side. She seems to have it altogether. Although I know no one does. I love the way she carried herself. What I love so much about Thomas is his kindness and his gentleness. Though he is tall and strong looking he is gentle and kind to talk to. These two really compliment each other so well. I really do love that about them.
Some of my most favorite parts of their wedding was just being there watching them move from one thing to the next. I loved seeing how Amelia put things together and I loved just being around her and Thomas. They are such wonderful, warm and joyful people. The kind of people that put your heart at rest and after three weddings this was such a great wedding to end a streak on.
To Thomas and Amelia thank you for the joy of allowing us to be a part of your day. It truly was such a treat and joy. I loved just stepping back and watching you two have fun whether it was during the getting ready parts, the ceremony or the reception. Jake and I both wish you such a wonderful life together. We already know that you both love each other deeply and we pray that love just grow and grows in strength for each other. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
