A few weeks ago we headed south to North Carolina to photograph Jim & Lisa’s wedding at the gorgeous Vista Creek venue in Manteo, NC, which is run by Jason & Courtney Marshall, an awesome couple that started in the wedding industry at the same time as us. This specific Saturday was a beautiful and sunny with not a cloud in the sky and almost perfect temperatures. All the vacationers were also heading in the same direction. I know this because we got stuck behind them all. Thankfully, we were there just a few minutes before our scheduled arrival and got started on all things details. Neither Jim or Lisa had arrived yet just. They were staying down the strip at beach houses and still getting ready. Well the guys were having all the fun in the pool. It reminds me of my wedding day a little. Guys are care free and easy compared to how the girls get ready. They, often, have it so easy compared to a girl’s timeline. As I was beginning to photograph the details Lisa’s sweet mom and sister entered into the bridal suite. Those two were so amazing and so helpful just before the wedding. Available to help at every turn. Lisa and the rest of her girls arrived shortly after. Lisa had the most joyful smile on her face. So calm and relaxed and truly excited for her day. She was such an easy bride. So ready to do whatever I suggested. All her girls were so fun too. I had the best time with them just before the ceremony.
I actually met Jim & Lisa the year before for their engagement session at First Landing State park in Virginia Beach. These two were so fun and easy then. I called them my pro posers. Lisa especially, just knew how to fall into natural poses. I would pull my camera away and see her do something that was so perfect. I’d jump and say, “do that again!” She had no idea what she did that was so posing perfect either! Such a natural. Actually, when Jake was culling this wedding he commented on how natural she was at posing and how easily she fell into place just by looking at her poses. And how she always had a smile on her face.
Jim and the guys were just….well, fun! You can tell by their photos…trust me, you’ll see! They rode dolly’s down the ramps and just had the best time being guys! And Jim’s vows to Lisa!!!! Talk about heart melt!!! Seriously, I was tearing up with all the bridesmaids and family members. You can tell the love these two have for each other goes so deep. And the joy they both had on their wedding day went even deeper.
Just a little bit about Jim and Lisa: These two enjoy taking walks together, playing card games, board games and video games. And they absolutely love traveling. They met at the Master of Arts in teaching program at Christopher Newport College taking classes together, but didn’t actually start talking until the last day of school. Lisa loves that Jim is a teammate in their relationship and that he is super funny and a great reflector. Jim loves Lisa’s selflessness, compassion and intellect. She is definitely all those things for sure! Currently, Jim serves in the Navy as an Engineer and Lisa an elementary music teacher.
These two spent their honeymoon in gorgeous Cancun, Mexico. I loved seeing all their photos on social media. And we so loved being able to be a part of their absolutely beautiful wedding. It truly was an honor to celebrate with them and their family members.
To Lisa & Jim we wish you the very best future together. We pray your life is so full of love, joy and lots of success. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to share in this beautiful day with you both! So much love!
