When Morgan & Ethan were planning their wedding for May 2020, they were not expecting the Coronavirus to sabotage all their hard work, but it did. Just like many of our May weddings, these two had to put their dream wedding on hold. Instead, they opted for a gorgeous First Landing Elopement in Virginia Beach with just a handful of their family and closest friends. As Virginia Wedding photographers we may just be learning how to navigate this season a little better for our couples. Who knew we’d ever need to; we sure didn’t! These two will not be celebrating their marriage in late August.
You’d be surprised that anything was different in the outside world on this Sunday. When we arrived at First Landing there were so many people enjoying the weather, warmth, and sun. Thankfully, we were able to find a hidden spot to perform this intimate ceremony so bystanders weren’t passing and interrupting this special moment. Ethan and Morgan had their closest friends, their mom and dad and their two dogs join them to watch them tie the knot hidden in the gorgeous spanish moss trees that First Landing offers. It was a perfect location so full of joy and lots of laughter. My favorite!
After the ceremony we did a few family photos and then I took Ethan and Morgan off for some bride groom portraits to remember this very special day. May 24this their forever day. Both their maid of honor and best man tagged along for the photos. Not much changed since the last time I got to spend a little time with Ethan and Morgan at First Landing for their engagement almost a year ago. They were both still just as sweet and so easy to talk to. Truly, a joy to know!
I loved how they included Corona beers as a joke to remember this time and day. And my most favorite memory from our time together was watching Morgan get teary eyed as they stood hand in hand saying their vows. It always causes my heart to leap or move when I see the bride or groom with tears. It reminds me of how important the commitment is that is being made. It’s not just empty words, but words you will learn to live every single day.
I truly love this sweet couple so very much and cannot wait to celebrate with them in August at their big wedding party. It was such an honor to be able to capture their elopement that Sunday. Screaming a million congrats to them in the meantime and praying their journey together is nothing short of perfect.
To Morgan and Ethan, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this moment. It’ll forever be engrained in my heart. Thank you for making the couple hours we spent together fun and light. Oh, and thank you for being so beautiful! See you guys in August! So much love!
