You know that feeling you get when you are around someone who just makes you feel like you can be 100% yourself? It’s the best feeling, isn’t it?! That is how I felt around Michael and Kathleen! We were walking through the woods and I said to Kathleen, “you are a calm breeze and so very comfortable to be around.” Her sweet personality combined with her soft smile is so refreshing. You just sorta relax around her; at least I did! And even more than being calm and comfortable these two were super joyful and laid back. Their entire engagement session was filled with laughter and smiles. It really was a lot of fun.

These two introduced me to a hidden gem in Virginia Beach that I never knew existed. I was so shocked because I have lived here my whole life and have never seen it AND, I loved it and cannot wait till the spring to do more sessions there. I love the water, the tall dead grass, bridges, piers, and really random cool trees. This location had all of them. These two actually live in North Carolina and traveled all the way to Shore Drive for their session and their dog joined us!

There was this really cool tree that I saw in this location which reminded me of the desert. The minute I saw it I squealed with joy and told Michael and Kathleen that we had to use it. I am so glad we did because I absolutely love the photos with the tree. Really, I love all of the photos, but the ones by the tree of some of my favorite.

Jake and I are so excited to be able to photograph Michael and Kathleen’s wedding in October at the gorgeous Founder’s Inn. It is going to be perfect. Also, looking forward to getting to know them a little more on their journey through this time. Wishing them such a happy and fun engagement time. Love to you both!!! <3 -J&J
