I walked into the bridal suite at Joe & Ashley’s wedding August 30th. I quickly got started on detail photos when in walked Alysa! She quickly began swooning over the detail shot set-up I placed together & started a conversation. She was the sweetest. After a few moments of chatting she began to tell me that her & her fiancé, John were getting married on mother’s day 2020 & she was in need of a photography. Um, yes! What a great way to meet a potential bride at a wedding you’re already photographing & what a great way to interview that photographer. They already get to see you in action.
Just a few weeks later, Ally reached out to us. Of course I remembered her & John. Both John & Ally were in the bridal party at Joe & Ashley’s wedding. John was the one with the cast I was teasing the entire time we did bridal party photos. The third wheel cast! We set up an on phone consultation since we’d already met. Both her & John were on the phone. We joked around about his cast & he assured me he’d have it off by the time they did their engagement session. I really loved chatting with them.
I tell brides just as much as they interview us we also interview them. And one way I can tell if a bride is a good fit for us is if they are warm. Usually, another way is if it takes forever to get them off the phone. If someone takes multiple attempts at leaving my house or getting off the phone that is a perfect indicator we will work well together. Jake & I are both warm people & we love when our brides & grooms are the same way. It was so that way with John & Ally.
We set up their engagement session a couple of weeks ago, but all this crazy rain in Virginia Beach had other plans for us, so we did it last week at the new Neon District at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. I love love loved the backgrounds Ally chose. They were so bright and colorful. These two are from up north, but live near the Virginia Beach oceanfront so they wanted to really keep that vibe in their engagement session.
I so enjoyed getting to spend the afternoon with John & Ally. They are both the sweetest and their natural posing abilities combined with their gorgeousness made these pictures some of my favorite.
We cannot wait to be a part of their next year on Mother’s day. They are having their wedding at the gorgeous Lesner Inn here in Virginia Beach. To John & Ally, Jake & I wish you both such a happy engagement season. We are counting down the days till your wedding & cannot wait to meet all your friends & family. If they are anything like you two. We know its going to be the BEST day!
