Fort Monroe Virginia Engagement Donnie + Kristi
This Fort Monroe, Virginia engagement session is super special to my heart. Donnie is my youngest cousin. He lived with us for several years growing up. So when he & Kristi asked Jake & me to photograph their wedding, I not only felt honored but incredibly excited.
Donnie & Kristi’s engagement session started with an adventure. This was not the original location they planned for their engagement session. Good ole fate had other plans. We all know the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel is insane to cross. I’ve honestly never had a problem crossing it until this specific Wednesday when I got stuck in standstill traffic for over an hour, which made going all the way to Yorktown Beach impossible. Thankfully, Donnie & Kristi were so amazing. They decided to meet me at Fort Monroe last second, which worked out perfectly.
To be honest, I felt a little nervous photographing them because I wanted to do a good job for them. I knew all our family would be looking at their photos. We found cute little spots to take photos on the island. Since I was unfamiliar with the island, I googled other engagement sessions to spark ideas of places to photograph. We started at a cute white house & ended on the beach. Everything turned out perfect.
After the session was over we started talking about their wedding. As we were talking, I realized this wedding was so much fun. It was the first time I really thought that far ahead. I can’t wait to see all our family & celebrate this adorable couple.
To Donnie & Kristi, thank you for allowing us to be your wedding photographers. You could have chosen anyone, but you picked us. We can’t wait! Donnie, I am so proud of the man you have become & Kristi what a gem he has found in you. We can’t wait too officially have you in the family.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorites.
So much love,
Jake & Jen
