Eli + Elizabeth A Scottland Farm Wedding
As Virginia wedding photographers we see all kinds of family dynamics with the different weddings we photograph. Some have that close knit family feel (our personal favorites), some are catching up after not seeing each other for a long time and some seem disconnected. What I loved about Eli and Elizabeth’s wedding at the Scottland Farm in West Augusta, Virginia was the bond Elizabeth shared with both her mom, Sharon, and her dad, Stan.
I loved that her mom was included in all the special moments She often had tears of joy filling her face. She took time to make sure every detail was perfect for her daughter. She arranged several surprises for Elizabeth throughout the day. One was that her brother who wasn’t suppose to be there ended up being there. Elizabeth wanted to do a first look with her brothers, but almost cancelled the idea when one of her brothers couldn’t be there due to military commitments, but when we set up the first look with her brother that was able to be there, Elizabeth turned around and with shock on her face, her military brother was standing there too. Elizabeth’s expression and joy was priceless.
Then there was Stan, Elizabeth’s dad. He was so excited about doing the first look with his daughter. The joy on his face when Elizabeth turned around only showed how special his little girl is to him. During their daddy daughter first dance, Stan showed love for Elizabeth all over his face. I often image what I will be like one day when I dance with Jenson. Watching these moments on wedding days always moves my heart.
Another part of Eli and Elizabeth’s wedding day that was their venue. It’s not often we get to travel to the mountains for weddings and if I was being honest I’d so love to do this more. The beach area can get kinda boring. I know wedding photographers in the mountains would say the same for the mountains. The Scottland Farm was breathtaking. It was the perfect landscape for this wedding.
Oh, and it’s rare that I comment on food, but the barbecue styled dinner was so yummy. Probably some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time.
To Eli and Elizabeth, thank you for inviting us into your day. It was so beautiful, so perfect and you both were a joy to celebrate with. We pray your lives together will be so full of the same joy you shared on your day. We hope you can relive your day through these gorgeous day!
With so much love,
Jake & Jennifer
