This adorable couple, Thomas & Amelia met me at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens one Sunday afternoon.  We are also photographing Amelia’s older sister, Nina’s wedding at the end of the month, which we cannot wait to be a part of!!  At first when Amelia started emailing me, I didn’t realize she was was Nina’s sister.  It suddenly hit me right before our first phone conversation and I was ecstatic.  Nina is absolutely stunning and wonderful, so I knew Amelia had to be too…stunning and wonderful!   I remember sending Amelia a text saying…”wait are you Nina’s sister!?”  

Amelia had been emailing me about her engagement session and decided she wanted it at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens and wanted to go for more of an eloquent theme.  She sent me her two dress ideas and I was so excited.  I love romantic and eloquent shoots just like this one and just a little secret I was totally drooling over her gorgeous dresses.  The Norfolk Botanical Gardens could not have been anymore perfect for their engagement session backdrop.  It fit so perfectly with her vision.  

The day of their engagement session was the first time I met Thomas and when he walked up to me I was in model heaven.  This guy is definitely good looking…both of them are!  He told me he use to be a model when he was younger.  And boy could he pull of the Zealander stare better than a smile! 😉  I loved chatting with Thomas (and Amelia too).  His fun loving personality matched with Amelia’s strength are a perfect combination.  

I learned something really cool about Amelia’s name…”Amelia Pilar.”  In the beginning it was confusing who was emailing me because she goes by both Amelia and Pilar.  I told her I always loved the name Amelia, so I was choosing that name to call her.  During their session we talked about this and she told me that her mother had a really great friend named Amelia and she decided to pass that name on to one of her daughters, but her mother also loved the name Pilar.  So she named her Amelia Pilar because Pilar Amelia just sounded wrong.  So most people of her family and friends call her Pilar because that was really what her mother wanted to call her, but in school she’d always answer by Amelia because it was confusing to the teachers.  🙂  Just a really cool fact I thought I would share.  

Jake and I are so excited to celebrate with this very gorgeous couple next year and are so very thankful we get to be a part of their wedding.  To Thomas and Amelia thank you so much for allowing me to photograph you two.  It was so fun hanging out with you this day and learning a little bit about the both of you.
