A Winter Wedding at Virginia Beach’s Culpepper Barn: Nic & Greta’s Story

The charm of a Virginia Beach Culpepper Barn wedding is undeniable, and Nic and Greta’s winter celebration was a perfect example of why this venue is so sought-after for couples. Their love story, their connection to family, and the deep importance they place on their faith all came together in such a beautiful, heartfelt celebration. As Virginia Beach Wedding Photographers, we had the privilege of capturing their special day, and we’re excited to share their story with you.

A Catholic Wedding at St. John the Apostle Church

Nic and Greta’s day began with a beautiful Catholic ceremony at the St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. The church, with its grand architecture and peaceful atmosphere, was the perfect place for these two to exchange vows and begin their journey as husband and wife. There was such a sense of reverence and joy in the air, reflecting their deep faith and the importance of this sacred moment in their lives.

A First Touch Back-to-Back

Instead of a traditional first look, Nic and Greta chose to do a first touch—standing back to back, with their hands reaching out to each other. It was a deeply intimate moment, filled with anticipation, before they each stepped into the church for the ceremony. This small, yet significant gesture set the tone for the entire day—full of love, respect, and a sense of shared commitment.

The Bridesmaids and Something Blue Girls

Greta had five bridesmaids by her side, but she also had something extra special: four “something blue girls.” What a creative and heartwarming idea! These girls were part of Greta’s special day, each one dressed in blue to symbolize a part of the traditional wedding rhyme, adding a unique twist to the classic wedding details. The bridesmaids, with their genuine love and excitement for Greta, helped make this day unforgettable.

A Proposal at Munden Point: The Perfect Location for Bride and Groom Photos

When it came time for their couple portraits, Nic and Greta knew exactly where they wanted to go: Munden Point. This location was not just beautiful; it held a personal significance for the couple. Nic had proposed to Greta at Munden Point, making it the perfect place for their wedding photos. The natural beauty of the area, combined with the emotional connection, made these moments feel even more special.

A Winter Wonderland: A Beautiful Day from Start to Finish

The wintery weather on Nic and Greta’s wedding day was absolutely magical. The cold air, the crisp light, and the soft glow of winter created a picturesque backdrop for their celebrations. Despite the chill, the warmth and love between the couple—and their family and friends—was felt throughout the day. Everything went smoothly, from the ceremony to the reception, with every detail falling perfectly into place.

As a Virginia Wedding Photographer, I loved capturing all the small, meaningful moments. One thing that stood out was how much Nic and Greta are loved by those around them. Their family and friends were there to celebrate them wholeheartedly, and you could feel the bond of support and love they shared.

A Family of 7: Siblings and Special Moments

Greta comes from a large family of seven siblings, which must have made for some unforgettable memories growing up! Her sister, Katrina, served as her matron of honor and shared a heartfelt toast/speech during the reception. It was so moving to hear Katrina’s rendition of how Nic and Greta met and fell in love—and how she played a key role in encouraging their romance. It was clear that both families were incredibly close, and it was heartwarming to witness the strong family dynamics on display.

Faith at the Heart of Their Love

One of the most touching elements of Nic and Greta’s wedding was how deeply they value their faith. From their Catholic wedding ceremony to the way they surrounded themselves with loved ones who shared this same faith, it was clear that God and their shared belief system played an integral role in their relationship. Their marriage was not just a personal commitment; it was a commitment to each other and to the Lord.
