Unplugged Wedding Ceremony #TipTuesday-For the Bride to Be

Today, I (Jake) want to talk about having an unplugged wedding ceremony. You may be on the fence about this and you may have not even discussed it, but I wanted to share my thoughts. There are already a lot of distractions in the world, but why would you on your wedding day have to compete with those distractions? In the age of social media, people really don’t want to miss out on anything including pictures of what people ate last night… just kidding, not really.

Why should people unplug during your wedding day?

1. So they can be present on one of the most important days of your life. This is a day that you took the time to think out who you’d invite and you chose them.

2. So they can see you in your complete transition from single to married in your entire beauty! This isn’t going to happen again (at least you hope not).

3. The phone is always a distraction. Are you telling me you look better through a screen than in the actual flesh? How many people are actually going to watch the video clips again? I know that question can’t be blanketed, but it’s fair to say people record videos and never watch them.  These are great questions to ask.

A question that does arise is what if I offend someone? Well… you can’t always make everyone happy. Let me ask you something as a wedding photographer, do you want pictures with a bunch of cell phones in them? I don’t think you do. Do you trust us as your wedding photographers?  They will miss out on the actual moment with their phones in the air.  That’s why you hire photographers and videographers to capture the moments for you.
