James + Denisha . Anniversary Family Session A First Landing Anniversary Session
James + Denisha
Denisha called me sometime at the end of 2019 inquiring about an anniversary family session for her and James. I will never forget the day. I was pacing the halls of the YMCA with a big pregnant belly trying to keep my breath up as I walked and talked to her. I remember her excitement to have her photos taken for her and James’ 10 year anniversary. She talked about her wedding day and how she chose then to go a cheaper route and not pay for quality photos. Ten years later she realized how she wished she would have spent more for quality photos on her wedding day. So this session was a gift to her and James on their 10 year anniversary. Truthfully, I am so glad they chose me to capture this gorgeous moment.
As a Virginia Beach wedding photographer I find myself at First Landing more times than not. Almost all of our wedding clients choose to have their engagement photos there. First Landing offers so much variety in such a short walk. From the beautiful spanish moss, to the beach, sand, to the trees, and rustic look First Landing is really such a great choice for those that love these types of scenery. Denisha wanted this kind of anniversary session so I quickly recommended First Landing to her.
We all arrived at the session at about the same time, just a few minutes before we were scheduled to start. Denisha brought her mom to help with their boys, Jace and Josiah. After we walked to our beginning spot, which ended up being a hike with the boys, we quickly got started on the family photos. Then we transitioned into photos of just James and Denisha. Denisha chose the most perfect dress for her anniversary session and I loved the outfit combination and colors she chose for the entire family. Both James and Denisha did a great job with posing.
One of my most favorite memories of this session was Jace’s side eye evil stare at me. Haha! Whenever James, Denisha and I would come back from taking photos at a location that was off the path he would stare at me with a side eye evil stare. It was so funny! He was definitely not feeling the long wait, heat and aggravation of taking photos. You can’t tell in the photos because either I or his parents convinced him to smile. Actually, I take that back whenever it was just him taking photos he was eating it up. Haha! He was a sweet boy and I loved every minute of his side eye evil stare.
The session was fun overall. Even at the end when mom and James started booking it back to beat the rain and storm rolling in. Coming into the session they were tagging behind. Leaving the session they were practically running back.
To James and Denisha, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this day and this memory. Thank you for giving me the joy of capturing your 10 year anniversary and your beautiful family. It was a joy to meet all of you and spend that Friday evening with you. Wishing your beautiful family so many blessings and so much joy the rest of this year. With so much love,
-Jake & Jennifer
