Decker Half Moone Wedding

This Virginia Decker Half Moone wedding is one of my favorites so far this year. If you read our blogs on the normal, you’ll know from my last blog that Shane & Kristie are my dream avatar clients. Being a part of their wedding day solidified this for me.

Arrival

Kristie was sitting in the makeup chair when I arrived at the Hilton Main in Downtown Norfolk. She smiled big & greeted me. I quickly met her beautiful mother, Maribel & her sisters, Kealsie & Bethany. Kealsie was amazing & helped me get all the details & dress downstairs to be photographed.

Kristie’s Family

Kristie is one of 4 beautiful girls. She also has a twin sister, Natalie, but you’d never think they were twins upon meeting them. I remember being shocked when Kristie told me Natalie was her twin sister after meeting her at Shane & Kristie’s engagement session. Nick & Marabel did a great job raising such beautiful, sweet & talented girls. I was impressed meeting all of them.

The entire wedding day was perfect from start to finish. There was so much joy & love throughout the day.

Favorite Things

Some of my favorite moments of the day were just this watching Kristie’s family interact with her. Her dad, Nick, during her first look with her dad, was heart-melting. The love & joy they both share for each other was beautiful. The same was true for Shane’s mom & dad, Chris & Katy. They came to celebrate their son & their new daughter in law. You could see the bond between Katy, Shane’s mom & Kristie. I loved seeing that.

I remember during Shane & Kristie’s engagement session, Kristie asking me if I was a Christian. Being one, I said, yes. During their wedding, Shane & Kristie’s faith was strung through the day. They played Christian music & had their pastor from the Norfolk campus of Wave Church there. I loved hearing him share about these two as they’ve journeyed in their faith.

The Reception

Y’all and then the reception. The wedding party, the family & the guests let loose. DJ Danny Gray was the perfect DJ for this crowd. I loved watching everyone have a great time as they danced the night away celebrating with these two.

To Shane & Kristie

Shane & Kristie, you both are pure gems. Jake & I were truly honored to be able to photograph your wedding at the Decker Half Moone venue last Friday. It was a joy in so many ways. Your family & friends were such a joy to interact with. You made our job not feel like a job & that is what we love! I cannot wait to follow your journey through the rest of medical school & watch your lives unfold together. There are so many great things in store for both of you.
