Brandon + Amber . Engaged! An Edenton, North Carolina Engagement Session

If you’ve never had the privilege of going to Edenton, North Carolina you are truly missing out.  The week before last I drove down to Edenton, North Carolina to meet the sweetest Amber and her just as sweet Brandon.  It was my first time meeting them in person and my very first time in Edenton.

Edenton is the cutest little town.  Quaint and just beautiful.  It sits right on the gorgeous Edenton Bay, just north of the Chowan River and Roanoke River which forms Albemarle Sound. The town is small and unique and known for its authentic 18th, 19th and early 20th century architecture and the stories about the people who lived in this town.  It was so easy to quickly fall in love with this town.  I asked Amber how much the houses were there because I imagined how nice it would be just to have a house there away from all the noise.  I wish I could describe how refreshing and beautiful this historic looking town was and how the water just brought out its beauty even more.

Brandon and Amber are High School sweethearts and they lived in Edenton growing up.  Their parents still live there.  The two of them now live in Kitty Hawk, NC.  Amber is a school teacher and Brandon does landscaping in the Kitty Hawk area.  I loved Amber’s southern accent and Brandon’s warm personality.  Even though these two are High School sweethearts, it has taken Brandon a good while to pop the question to Amber.  When I asked him why he said he wanted to be sure they had everything ready.  These two really couldn’t be a perfect match for each other.  They are so cute and sweet.  It was a joy hanging with them that evening.

The session with them overall was perfect.  We did have to dodge some rain clouds, but otherwise it was lovely.  My favorite part of their session was toward the end when we turned the corner to head to a beautiful white house that sat waterfront.  I looked over to my right and saw this beautiful lighthouse.  It reminded me somehow of all of those Nicholas Spark books.  I quickly asked Amber about it and she said the lighthouse had been moved there.  It is called The Roanoke River Lighthouse.  It is decommissioned lighthouse and once stood in Albemarle Sound at the mouth of the Roanoke River.  It was a perfect finisher location for their session.  🙂

To Brandon and Amber, thank you so much for allowing me the privilege of photographing your engagement session.  What a joy to check out a piece of your history with you.  It was truly a pleasure and joy working with you both.  Jake and I cannot wait for your wedding at the gorgeous Vista Creek next year.  It is becoming one of our favorite venues to photograph weddings at.  We so hope the rest of your engagement season is full of lots of joy and laughter.
