Tacuma + Kendall . Married A St Joseph's Villa & Havana 59 Wedding
Tacuma + Kendall
Tacuma & Kendall! After months and months of planning their day was finally here! I will never forget the first time I spoke to them on the phone. We were parked in a parking lot in Newport News somewhere about to head to another wedding. I loved talking with Kendall. She was so full of life, vision and so easy to know. Her and Tacuma were about head to the Carribean on a vacation. I remember the conversation like yesterday. They asked if they could meet us in Yorktown on a double date. We had never been asked to do that before. But why not!? When that double date came I will never forget meeting both of them and our fun time together. They wanted to make sure we were a good fit for them. We talked and talked like we were old friends. Jake even called his new relationship with Tacuma a “bromance.” They texted back and forth all the time. A few months after our double date they drove down from Richmond with their and spent the evening with us at our house. And a few months after that Jake & I drove up and spent the evening with them in Richmond photographing their engagement session and eating at “Mellow Mushroom” my absolute favorite pizza place now, thanks to them! Kendall even helped me plan out an entire girl’s day for a friend of mine. She helped with all the great spots in Richmond. Still in love with Carytown and cannot wait to get there again soon.
Fast forward to their wedding day. It was so perfect. The temperature was perfect and the skies were perfect. We arrived at the gorgeous The Berkeley Hotel in Downtown Richmond and headed to our rooms. I was greeted by the friendliest girls. Kendall raved about all of them at least once in one of our get togethers. I could not wait to meet them. They were all just as she had described. They had a deep love for each other that could be seen so clearly. They celebrated Kendall and smiled with so much joy next to her. They helped so much in making the day so fun. Then I met Kendall’s precious mother. She was the sweetest and kindest. I loved the moment when she pulled out the special keepsakes from years past and handed them to Kendall. Both their eyes filled with tears. Mine too!
The ceremony was held at the gorgeous St. Joseph’s Villa and was flawless. The front of the church provided a beautiful back drop for the family formals, bridal party photos and bride groom photos. It was stunning. We do not get such timeless backdrops here in Virginia Beach. So I was in photographer heaven. I had been to the church once before on the day of their engagement session, but that was in the fall when everything was bare. This day everything was fully bloomed and just perfect.
After the ceremony we headed over to the reception area at the Havana 59, a Cuban Restaurant. As I followed some of the wedding party up several flights of stairs I landed on a top open outside area that overlooked Downtown Richmond. Wow! It had such a romantic and intimate wedding reception feel. You could see stringed lights through the city. The family and friends were so happy to celebrate these two amazing humans. It really was a perfect wedding in our opinions.
What I love most about Kendall is her warm personality. She is not a stranger at all. She makes you feel so comfortable and so relaxed and it would be so easy to tell her all your secrets and know she’d keep them so safe. She is truly a joy and I have loved some of the conversations we’ve had. She is super positive like me, so of course I love that about her.
And what I love about Tacuma. He is fun! Easy going and like a huge teddy bear. I love his smile too now that I am thinking about it. It lights up his whole face. He is just an all around great guy.
To Tacuma and Kendall, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allow us to be a part of your day. So glad our paths crossed and we hope that you will forever remain in our lives. We definitely feel a knitting in our hearts toward you two. We love you and hope you have such an amazing honeymoon next week. Thank you so much! And so many congratulations! J&J
